Did you get any closer to a solution on the digital scope after I left last night?
Striped it down again tested the voltages out of the power supply got 3 supply voltages +7V 0V -8V wanted to find some information on what the values should be.
Also disconnected the boards and tested as individually as possible. got no lights out on the unit. strange thing the power supply has 6 leads coming out of it for power and they have doubled up the leads for current, however there is no colour co-ordination at all as the -ve lead is using Black and Red as the supply.
Doesn’t sound hopeful?
