I want to make a small coffee table (55x55cm), and ideally it needs to coordinate well with my tv stand which is made from mango wood (please see attached).
I want to do this ASAP (within a few days), but sourcing planed mango wood is super difficult.
Does anyone know if I can pick any other hardwood and just stain it with something specific?
I’d look and see if veneered MDF/ply is available, or even just veneers if you’re sent on mango. I don’t have much experience with stains, but I do know if you go that route you should do some color testing first
I imagine you want to use something similar to the look of the gain in the mango wood as well as the colour? I’m unsure of a timber that is similar grain, oak or ash could be a shot with a Rubio stain as a test to see how it comes out colour wise? Rubio Monocoat
