Making a mini wood working bench for home from plans

Hi,

This mini workbench for home looks like a good idea…I bought the plans. If any @members are interested in making one, let me know and we could share tips and order vices together to save on postage, and do material runs to save on time.

If more experienced woodworkers spot any improvements, design issues, or hacks I’d sure welcome your input.

I was thinking of using pop-up dogs, and more of them.

It also comes with sketchup digital file but Discourse wont let me upload that file type, happy to email to anyone

Please, don’t abuse the member tag, you just summoned the attention of around 300 people.

Ooops sorry!

Check out this video of Laura Kampf making a very similar one.

yeah I saw Laura’s vid, its a beauty…I may end up making two benches!

I would love to do this but I’m not convinced my skill levels are adequate.

Defo come! I’m a beginner too!

Great. Tell me what I can do

Depending on when you get around to starting it, I might be interested as well!

Can you make it Sunday 2pm? Few of us are meeting to learn about hand tools.

I’ll bring the mini-bench plans down and hopefully one of the experienced woodworkers can give us some pointers on best way to start.

I jumped the gun a bit and got over excited and bought some Sapele hardwood from Whittens, a 1.5m 'ish board, 2inches thick came to £47 I think, enough for the bench top and four legs…nice thing is Whittens cuts it down to the sizes you need.

There are more low cost timbers that would also do the job.

@erik that’s great, join in after your holidays, we wont be miles ahead and happy to share our experience and tips.

I’m not sure about Sunday, it’s only a maybe at the moment but it would be good to meet.

no problem, if you cant make Sunday, let me know next time you’re popping into the space, I dont live far away and can meet you there, gives me excuse to come into the space and work
