It’s been a little while, but I’m sure you’re all revved up and ready to go. Let’s make a space this Sunday. There’s loads to do, and many hands make light work. All are welcome. No experience necessary, much to be learnt.
So we can get a good idea of numbers this weekend - could you please sign up below? We’d really like a good turn out this week, so whether you’re old, new, or just want to check us out, please come down, pick up a tool and help us make-the-space.
Jobs that need doing this week:
Finish the ply cladding,
sand down the ply cladding
oil the ply cladding.
Finish oiling of the ply cladding
Plumbing
Finish off Phase 2 Sink
Plumbing for Hot Water
Washrooming
Replace floor void cover and finish adhesive floor tiles
If you can make it, please let us know what time you can give below, else we would like people to be at the space by 11AM in order for us to do a proper safety briefing and allocate jobs.
There should (hopefully) be a marked-up piece of 2x2 with the grab bar locations, so you can drill into timber and not thin air.
Refer to this image for vertical dims (we’re just doing the three bars nearest the toilet. One vertical, one folding and one horizontal.) Ignore the sink location - our low level one should be immediately opposite the entrance door.
The low-level basin should be wall-mounted, so you can get your knees under it in a wheelchair. This will mean making a frame and cladding for the North wall.
Any more for any more? There’s a lot of stuff happening at makerspace in the next couple of weeks, and it would be great if we can get some jobs done, and movement towards being fully operational.
I’m sure if enough of us come down on Sunday, some kind of lunch can be coordinated. Please RSVP below.
A good day today - We got a lot of the cladding oiled up - still a little to do on the east wall. Also spent some time thinking about the north wall of the washroom. Have started building out the wall for cladding and sink hanging next week.
Pete, Richard and daughter, Andrew, Jan, Rory and myself.
Everything shifted from the walls and covered with dust sheets, screws recessed, all the panels sanded, then washed down with white spirit…lunch…then got both sides oiled. Then unfortunately we had to put everything back…and Pete has got the washroom wall by the scruff of its neck now too.
We could probably have oiled the lot if the supplier hadn’t messed up and only delivered one can of oil!
Things are a bit tight for me to get out of at the moment. Luckily baby will be good and will be able to free myself up a bit in the next few weeks. Hopefully will pass by the space on Wednesday night for the meetup. Let’s catch up than Dermot and Peter
