Much has been done, much still to be done, much making of spacing to be made.
Sorry I can’t make it this weekend (again! - family matters to attend to) - but that doesn’t mean you shouldnt come! please do! So we can get a good idea of numbers this weekend - could you please sign up below? We’d really like a good turn out this week, so whether you’re old, new, or just want to check us out, please come down, pick up a tool and help us make-the-space.
There are a whole bunch of other jobs that need to get done:
Washrooming
Replace floor void (recut from the right material)
finish adhesive floor tiles
Splashback tiling around sink(s).
Hang mirror
fitting handles and grab bars.
Finish up the plumbing of the second sink (just needs connecting to the mains and final bit of work on the waste)
Kitchen
Get going on a former for the kitchen worktop
Get going on the bookshelf / general storage / utilities closet.
Sitting Area
Make a start on making some side / coffee tables.
Painting
we can ALWAYS find something that needs a lick of paint / oil.
Phase 2 works.
Get the space for the short side of the wall clear
If you can make it, please let us know what time you can give below, else we would like people to be at the space by 11AM in order for us to do a proper safety briefing and allocate jobs.
It’s just the three handles for the WC that we have (and are most important).
The framing behind the toilet is already set out to the correct dimensions so you’ll drill into wood rather than just plasterboard. 3mm pilot holes won’t hurt if you want to be sure (filled up and painted over if needed)
The North wall I don’t know - it needs finishing but there’s not enough of the (sadly chopped up) 25mm ply to do it in one piece. Maybe a job to leave for Sunday?
Just found this space online after talking to a friend about some projects (mainly electronics) I’ve got on the go and his suggestion of looking for a local hackerspace/makerspace.
Is this going to be a good meeting for a first timer to meet all of you and get stuck in with some work? I’ve got a big can on elbow grease that I can bring along and love getting stuck into projects like this and making a few friends along the way!
hey, heading to space now, will be there in 20 mins, will need hand holding (the right hand, since the left one has been broken) cos i’ve been out of making the space loop for a few weeks
Ramp for front door - what am I looking for exactly and where might it be? I can see a big long strip of chequerplate in workshop area… What should wedge be?
That’s the thing. You’ll find it’s got corners cut out so that it fits in the front door. It needs propping/adding to at the road end so you can actually wheel something onto it. Do your best!
Good day to day, lots of enthusiasm, some plumbing and replumbing done in toilet, very tidy job (Tom), road leveled outside door and ramp made, some more fittings put in toilet as well.
Well done to anyone who put boots on the ground, and Joe for doing foreman.
We have alot of new handy people with energy.
Alot of us were working in the toilet area today which meant getting in each others way. Seems a shame when we got 50 percent of the space yet to touch. The sooner we get the bottlenecks out of the way the better, and get back to a situation where people doing the work have the agency to get on with it.
