Ild like to have a weekend where construction stops!
It’s banned for a whole weekend and people have to make things.
Why???
Because I think we need to start encouraging making in the space. And construction gets in the way of that.

No. construction enables that. please don’t try to make construction the enemy.
The idea isn’t to make construction the enemy.
The idea is to make the space somewhere to make things.
Even for just a weekend. Without the destraction of making the space.
There is a philosophical trick that says if you act like the thing you want to become you will become it.
Meaning if we actively encourage making it can become a thing we do. I don’t think there is enough encouragement of making going on.
It’s definatly taking a back seat at the moment. And maybe we need to acknowledge that. And start promoting making.
Some of us sacrifice a lot of time for SLMS and it would be nice for us to get something back.
A weekend where we can fix this. Build that. Sand that. Blah blah. But our stuff. Not the spaces.
I suggested this idea before the summer in a different context, that we should stop trying to drudge along and have a break for the summer and restart now.
Something very compelling about this!
