Machining help wanted for the woodshop

I need some shims made for the router table in the woodshop, out of some kind of metal (probably aluminium but anything would do really). I don’t have much time at the moment so I’m looking for someone who could help with it.

The part doesn’t have many features. It’s a triangle with a rounded corner and a plain hole drilled into it. This could either be done on the mini CNC or on the vertical mill. (@metaltechs do we have a rotary table or a way of making rounded corners on the mill?)

I need 4 copies of it. Of the top of my head, the dimensions are roughly 15mm thickness, 20mm wide on each direction. I will get actual measurements on Sunday. Most of the dimensions, including the thickness, are arbitrary and can be +/- a few mm. The hole positioning is a bit more critical, but +/- 0.5mm is probably fine.

Let me know if anyone is interested in giving it a go.

Thanks

If we don’t have an easy way to make the rounded corner, literally cutting the corner diagonally would be fine.

Hi Paul ,
We should be able to help with that,!
Can you make a set of drawings withe the dimensions?
If you are in tonight we can discuss, so I can understand what they are for.

Thanks! Sorry can’t do tonight, I’ll be there on Sunday all day. Will get you a drawing then and can show you what it’s for if you’re around.

Hi @stefanoromano,
I was in yesterday and while taking measurements i realised the part I need to shim is injection molded plastic (and not as I’d assumed anodized aluminium). Given that, I think I’ll just 3D print the shims, it will be easier and simpler. Maybe once I’ve dialled the dimensions we can machine a version of it.

Thank you for offering to help though!
