Low on new clay/clay in general

Hi all, just a quick message as was at the space last night and clay supplies are low. There is reclaim in waiting in the wings, but not sure it’d be ready for today. No other reclaim left, and a small amount of new clay for purchase. Just in case anyone was planning to go today. Thanks! Charlie

PS. The new clip thing that keeps the hose on the tap is great :raising_hands:t2:

Thanks @CharlieParker , just to say @CeramicsTechs are aware and we will try to get it resolved ASAP. I made the reclaim this week tat is currently on the bats - we should have that ready by the end of this week.

Hi @Ceramics an update on this

We are trying to get new clay into the space ASAP but I have checked the bats of recycled clay and one of them (right hand side) I think will be ready to use by this weekend for sure.

If folks wouldnt mind checking on it and bagging it if ready that would be much appreciated as I am away this weekend.

In the meantime, please be mindful of the low stock and plan accordingly! Sorry about this.

Hi potters @Ceramics @CeramicsTechs

An update - clay is now back in stock. We have done a bigger order than usual and have some extra bags in the shelves behind the kiln - please don’t use this clay!!! Only use the one in the usual spot.

Please use new clay as usual:

  1. Pay before you use! This is very important as it is how we can monitor stock levels and prevent running out again…
  2. Grab clay from the bags that are under the recycled clay bats, not from the backup ones next to the kiln!
  3. Remember to always slice clay, not use your hand to pull it from the bag - it ruins the rest of the bag for the next potter!!

Thanks for the shout-out! I need to pass the thanks onto @Riggerz who ultimately helped get all the clay inside as i was stuck in traffic in Herne Hill when the delivery arrived! :clap:

Got a 10 kilo bag of clay in a work secret Santa but I do 99% of my pottery in a studio that doesn’t allow outside clays - does the space have a use for this? It’s white stoneware, can bring it in next time I come in if so

Can come back on this for you Sean. You can throw with your own clay, but it can’t be kept in the space and any waste needs to be handled separately to the usual system. You would have to take any slip home and dispose of it yourself for example. Hope that helps!
