I was browsing Aliexpress for materials for my project and came upon these LED Strips that are pre wired to connect to Bambu Lab printers, given how cheap they were I was considering ordering 2 of them for the printers here, just wanted to check with the @3dtechs before hand to see if there was any objection?
LED light strips for Bambu Lab 3D Printers
Have you found the default lighting to be insufficient? I’m not voting nay by any means but just wanted to check that there is a need first of all. Any damage caused by unauthorised third party accessories would likely invalidate any warranty for the parts affected. In this case probably the AP board.
I really like to use the time-lapse feature of the printers and I feel the default light is a bit lacklustre in that regard and could benefit from the additional light.
In regards to potential damage, while I agree that there is a small risk of invalidating warranty, I highly doubt that they would cause any issues. This seems to be a common mod for the printers from what I can see online and the strips themselves only run at 5V.
Yes that would be my main concern. I wouldn’t object to external lights mounted above the machine as long as they aren’t wired into the electronics of the actual printer.
One thing I would say, as more of a general consideration for the space, is things that are going to be implemented on really popular tools, such as the printers, should have a strong community backing and ideally be useful to all. If we have a wave of people wanting things like this, then its a good thing to have but we might want to think of a more robust solution.
in this case large LED strips mounted securely to the underside of the top shelf and possibly wired into tool control would be a great solution as we wont have to wire them into the machine and are good to illuminate the area whilst you are loading/unloading.
You make a good point about having strong community backing, apologies if I have overstepped in any way here! I thought it would be a welcome addition
I think a light system mounted to the underside of the shelves would be a good solution, if the general consensus is that this would be a welcome addition then I am happy to spend some time working on it
not overstepping at all. just we have no metric at all as to how often the timelapses are actually used so I have no idea if its something people want or not!
I’m all for this! As @cdldn says, timelapses are lacklustre at the moment. +1 for an extreme psychedelic rave lighting rig, preferably synched to the chosen music track. Let’s have eye-popping timelapse clips!
Strong rave vibes.
