Leather Sewing machines

Tags: #<Tag:0x00007fa49e0b9290>

Afternoon all,

Does anyone know if any of the sewing machines at the space can sew leather. @textilestechs could you advise?
Thanks

The industrial machine can sew leather but it’s better with a Teflon foot. If you don’t have this foot you can use tissue paper between the teeth and the leather and that helps. Leather machine needles are also a good idea. They are triangular and go through with more ease but you can use normal needles as well, I think they leave more of a hole though. And the thread should be polyester or nylon as cotton can rot over time with the leather. Hope that helps.

Also the singer can sew leather we will be following with an induction after we move into the old woodshop

Thank you!

Hi there,

Do you, or anyone who uses the textiles space, know which is the right foot for the machine we have? I’m willing to buy one but want to make sure it’s the right one and will fit onto our machine!

Thanks
Theo

Hi  The old industrial singer sowing machine in the corner will do leather perfectly (yes it works fine and has had a haul over by a singer fixing man ) you would have to change the foot , Keep well . Brian D=
