Had a go , one half came out ok, the other have a few rings or undulations, I’m guessing I didn’t keep the gouge tool equipment distant from the wood.
Speed was 1150. Started as squared Iroko wood. Worked much easier than I expected.

Those undulations could be caused by a knot in the wood or vibration, might not have been to do with you keeping a constant distance.
