Lasercutter file compatibility question: illustrator only?

Just out of interest, does the lasercutter accept any other kind of file than Adobe Illustrator?

The lasercutter appears to the computer as a ‘printer’, do you can in theory use it with any software that produces a vector output eg Inkscape. Illustrator itself can open a lot of different file types eg SVG, PDF.
