Just thought it would show off the finished product some of you saw me making a few weekends back.
A friend who started his own company recently moved house which meant he could use the loft as an office instead of the living room.
I figured we needed to find a house warming, present that could be used in the new “office”
The materials are: 3mm birch ply, 3mm White Perspex Sheet (Opaque). And some warm white led strips.
The text is some logstash filters (related to his line of work), due to the font and size some of the letters fell out but not enough to ruin the overall look.
Thanks to @frasco for the recommendation of solvent cement to stick the acrylic to the ply back, and drilling the power cable hole on the drill press. Normal wood PVA worked for the corners.
Hmm I’m not sure if was what ever I had left.
the inside is two 2x4s glued together, and the led strip was wrapped about maybe 8 times.
then three strips of 5 on the top of that block.
Hmm I hadn’t thought of that, I needed to add some weight to it so it didn’t move across the desk, so that’s where the idea came from. Also it enables you to take out the screw in the bottom and pull the lamp part out for servicing if needed.
