Hi… I know there is a re-induction process going on for the laser cutter at the moment. As I am not yet inducted Im wondering if there is an option for me to get something small cut in the meantime - Do it supervised perhaps?
I only have a few small pieces of card to cut & the file will be ready to go.
Any thoughts would be very welcome!
Thursday night is a good bet. I’ll be there and likely someone else who’s laser reinducted.
Friday evening seems like a good bet possibly as there are re-inductions taking place so people would be on hand

It’s a shame that we had to miss this - we have so much on right now!! But since the cutter is up and running again we would really love to become members in January. I use a Trotec laser cutter at work so I would be comfortable using it, but I guess I still have to have the induction so if there’s one in January that’d be great!

Hi - second what Maskadelic said. Been a member for a couple of months now, but not been inducted on laser cutter (couldn’t make last weeks session). Will there be another induction session soon? Al
Right now it’s only me doing inductions and I am really busy with the mountain of other stuff I have to do for the space. I am trying to find time to get more inductors trained up, but thats been tricky.
I will run another one after Christmas but people need to be more flexible in their schedules if they want to come, I’ve run numerous inductions now, and there are always people saying they can’t make it… which I get but I am volunteering my time, so I feel a bit stressed out when everyone keeps biting at my heals for more from me when I already do so much.
This is an unfortunate bottleneck.
The only thing the inductors need is more detailed cleaning instructions, and to place a strong emphasis on ’ are you positive you know what the material you’re working on is?’ ?
Is there no way we can get this moving? It surely only involves some existing inductors meeting with @unknowndomain for ten minutes or so?
Yes yes. I will run new induction sessions as soon as I have the relevant upgrade to my process.

If the people who volunteered to be inductor/maintainers could let me know when they are free this weekend and next I could do an inductors training for them.

AFAIK the Trotec page on Discourse hasn’t been updated to refect the new levels of vigilance expected from users: this needs to be sorted. I may have missed it but I saw nothing about cleaning, and the selection of materials could be beefed up?

Some weekday evening next week might work, otherwise it’ll have to wait till after the 29th.
Is it so detailed that we can’t do it over a phone call or Slack chat?

Hi @unknowndomain - I’m free this Saturday afternoon/evening as well as all Sunday before 6 PM! Would it be possible to combine re-induction with induction for being an inductor? Then I can start doing inductions in January!
Oh, and also free ALL of Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th!
This weekend I’m available. if you’re down on Sunday, we should do it then, and I’ll get back on the inducting trail asap.
Sounds like you guys have this covered. If you go for this weekend I might be able to make it down, but an extra 2 inductors is probably enough.
I’d like as many as possible…
I am thinking maybe Saturday so we have the most time to spend on that and Sunday isn’t affected.

Hi, I’ll be signing up for membership this weekend. Is there any possibility to do an induction for either of 3D printing or laser cutting? I could come any moment this week, any hour.
