Hi,
Does anyone know a good source for the laser cutters allowed materials of ply and acrylic?
I’ve used this guy’s list as a starting point:
Materials for laser cutter
Acrylic/perspex is all good even without the laser label but ply must be labelleld as laser ply.
We have a supplier of laser ply and laser MDF in Peckham. Whitten Timber.
Unfortunately their communication is rubbish and highlights an all to frequent phenomenon: I’ve rung them, and followed up with 2 emails about establishing a price list and supplying us with precut sizes.
Having heard nothing I ran out of steam a bit.
Will push it through this week. I wonder if they’re interested in selling…
So if anyone else is researching suppliers, that would be most welcome, but no need to duplicate my work with Whitten Timber.
Did get my laser ply from https://hobarts.com/sheet-materials_124/ delivered a few day after.
Trotec have a materials catalog, it’s on the thread about the laser cutter.
So I’ve placed an order with https://www.kitronik.co.uk/ from the list supplied by @david so lets see.
Can I suggest we collate all the known suppliers into a wiki post that is pinned? I’d do it now, but I’m on dodgy mobile discourse for the day.
I’ve ordered from Kitronik and Always Hobbies. Got a Slecuk order that should arrive today. Not had any problems with any of them but no clear winner in terms of price or delivery costs. You have to see who works best for you.
Trotec have a materials website but it’s all “call for a quote” - Trotec Supplies
Kitronik are a good company.
As for the call to quote, they are really friendly and I am sure if we ask for prices we could post them up?
Note: when I placed my order of 5 sheets of 6mm laser ply Kitronik was a tiny bit more expensive than Robarts.
