Laser cut winerack

Hollaaa

I made a laser cut winerack! Its square so it can slot into an Ikea grid shelf thing in the flat and it holds 3 wine glasses and 6 bottles (or 6 bottles and one massive bottle). Its a bit of a weird shape, it was meant to look like a skewed version of like a traditional diamond shaped winerack, its pretty jaunty but I kind of like it.

I made it using 123D make, a free program by Autodesk that can make a 3d model into 2d slices, not a plug but i think its pretty cool piece of software: http://www.123dapp.com/make

Love the facilities and community here! I’m looking forward to making more!

HI Tom, great rack! really interesting.

Do you know if I could take a sketchup model and use the software to create 2d slices?

Hey Ross

To be honest I haven’t used sketchup much, I think the 123d make software works with .STL and .OBJ files but I can check properly when I get home tonight.

I found this video for converting sketchup to 2d slices but the export to stl option might be a pro only feature? What sort of shape it it you’re looking to make?

Hi Tom,
Thanks for the reply! I managed to convert a model in Sketchup into an .STL file and then import into that into 123D Make. I will play around with this some more then try it out on the laser cutter
