Hi @textilestechs - I noticed a few issues with the Janome Overlocker yesterday afternoon. The hand wheel seemed to intermittently disengage, turning the wheel wasn’t moving the needle. When I left it it was engaged so it seems fairly random whether it’s working or not.
I was also following the instructions on how to thread it and I noticed some of the bits that I needed to thread looked like they were in a different position to what was in the video. It’s the guide at around 8:00 in the thread video https://youtu.be/AYb0W-ib1M4?si=s1eyxRWmqeKeWaqS&t=483. I don’t know if that’s an issue or not, in any case it was making it quite hard to thread.
I will be in the space on Wednesday and have a look
The overlocker is back in order. A screw was missing on the handwheel and therefore was disengaging (has now a new screw). I also retreaded it and it works nicely. @dbatten4 Thanks a lot for flagging it
Best
Karin
Thanks so much @Karin ! Hoping to take it for a spin later on today
Ah one of the needles has been shattered. I had a look through the needle drawers and couldn’t see a HA-1SP needles, do you know if we have any?
HA-1SP are Janome-specific needles (all-rounders), but other brands will work too. Use the needle most suited to your fabric, and please change both needles so they match. As the overlocker is quite a fast machine, first turn the handwheel (towards you) manually. If the needles do not hit anything or bend, you should be good to go.
I replaced the needles.
