Jam evening

EDIT: This is now 5pm on Sunday the 17th of September

Dear music enthusiasts,

At the last event we agreed a new date - 9th September, Saturday.

Please tag along and comment under any music requests, as we tend to play original music of members as well as jam our way around covers.

@0atman
@mikekelly
@clemJ
@rysia

To tag just a few, if anyone wants to be tagged when a new event comes up, please comment under this section

Also - @systems could we please have an event category for this?

Best,

Petra

If there’s ever an international rock day, I’d volunteer some vocals. Easy examples Jarabe de Palo (la flaca), Melendi (caminando por la vida), Jiovannoti, Paralamas do suceso, etc ec

Hi Petra. I came along with bass, sax and flute last time. Would love to come again. 9 September doesn’t work for me, any other September works for me, but don’t change the date on my account.

I can do 1st and 22nd October, if one of those would work.

Cheers
Sam

Let’s see, 1st October sounds good to me!

I’d love some of that!

I’ll have a think about actually ‘easy’ songs, not sure why I used that word above since they’re not actually easy if one’s never heard the songs before!

Send us YouTube links?

Not necessarily easy classic Latino rock songs but if people like the groove I can find suitable songs.

1st oct doesn’t work for me for the next one - let’s figure out a date for the next one at the coming one, not now. (thanks @hernhillier for your dates, we’ll try to do one of those it was great to jam with you!)

Tracks we should play, from memory (I’ll update as I think of them!):

Songs we should not play, in case we like them too much, mashed up by my friend John:

Brendan has some original songs that always provide a good space for a lot of instruments.

In case I play bass again I’ll bring also a grey board note transcription because I don’t always remember where the notes are… (who knows how to call that)

I will be available from 5pm with drums. A work thing prevents me from coming earlier … This is a Saturday, we can actually do a music night once again? Late afternoon-10pm?

Anyone firing up a BBQ would be probably welcome, … the only summer bbq this year we’ve had was only in the lasercutters nozzle…

Let’s make it a jam evening, sure!

I liked all of these! Would definitely be up for working up some guitar parts, especially the Jarabe de palo. We need latin percussion!

How about some Nina Simone? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ckv6-yhnIY&ab_channel=ParticuleYair

Or Al Green. Tired of Being Alone is probably one of the more straightforward ones.
I am fixing my wah pedal, so we could try Kiss by Prince? It’s basically a blues progression.
A bit of Can-esque kraut rock would also be fun for a jam.

A few other songs I’ve always thought might be good to play live, though I haven’t checked how difficult they are:

Slapp Happy - The Drum https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j2m4_KTg-VA&ab_channel=UKMikey
Sweet Charles - Yes It’s You https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZhsrCR_0opw&ab_channel=davidpinches
The Roches - Hammond Song - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EA-U5H4VoX8&ab_channel=RochesFan

I’m all about some krautrock. Let’s get motorik.
