Iphone 6 screen replacement woes

Has anyone fixed a broken iphone 6 screen with a do it your self pack from the internet? I might give it a go to try and save myself £100 but have no experience of doing it apart from once watching aguy in a shop fix mine lol

Any shout outs or suggestions would be most welcome

I once tried to replace my iPhone 5 screen but got 1/2 way through & realised the one I’d bought didn’t have the bits in the right place. I have the iPhone screwdrivers which I am happy to donate to the space.

I tried it on my 4s, and bricked it through lack of attention to detail…

the screwdrivers would be a good start, thanks sarah!

I’m doing some youtube research at the moment

I’ve done an HTC Desire and a Nexus 4 but not tried an iPhone.

I believe iFixit is the go-to website?

ifixit has great step by step info and they sell all the tools
The repair services are overpriced and not worth it apparently, i’ve been told its easy enough to do

my advice is to get a really good parts tray and make sure that every screw is accounted for. There are a trillion different kinds of screw inside the iPhone, and it’s stupidly easy to mix them up as they’re all as tiny as a gnats undercrackers.

I just drew a picture on a peice of a4 paper and put each screw in its place on the picture. I didn’t solve the problem but managed not to kill the phone. It is super fiddly though.

I can loan a set of stuff and help.

good shout sarah and thatd be steller Tom

I phone tends to use some screws for its RF components so be careful where you place them back in.
Also make sure the replacement screen is capable of scanning your fingerprint.

Thats actually the big deal, the touch ID sensor is designed to protect you from using unauthorised replacements to avoid trying to hack into it I guess.

The screen is different from the touchId button so he’s fine
