Intaglio printing press

hi everyone,
Hope you are all keeping well. I am pretty sure that we don’t have an intaglio printing press but just wanted to be sure to be sure?
And if anyone has any recommendations for print studio where I could access one I would be most grateful.
Warm wishes,
Laura

I have one I’d be happy for you to use sometime, it’s a fold-up roller press from The Portable Printing Press Co, and although I’ve used it mostly for lino, I’ve done some drypoint with it and I’d be very surprised if it didn’t manage proper etchings as well. The roller is made from rubber but let me know if you’d be interested and I can bring it and show you how to set it up.

Thanks a lot Peter, I’m actually needing to use it for embossing so think I will need a pretty heavy duty one….

We have a small nipping press but not sure what pressure it could withstand or how even it is. You’ll just need to make some sacrificial cheeks for it.

No we don’t at the moment, but if screen printing takes off once it starts (imminently) a press will be the next thing to get, I am going to be making one for my partner soon and It will probably donated to the space for a short time.

However in the meantime try
https://www.thames-sidestudios.co.uk/print-studios

They work similar to Slms on a membership (but a lot more expensive, or you can pay for a day.

Carolyn, who runs it is very helpful

thanks Sam!

Thank you Mark, it’s good to know of the Thamesside studio, will look into this as an option too.
