Inkscape issues: drawing lines broken

Does anyone know a solution to broken lines in inkscape. when I draw an object > save > re-open all my solid lines have been broken into millions of nodes with visible breaks. Any idea how to solve this?

cheers

if its the copy of Inkscape on the laser cutter PC, I think it needs re-installing. I was having all sorts of issues the other day.

I just opened your file on Inkscape on my PC and I see this…

even adding a line and saving / reopening makes no difference

no I’m not using the space pc. if you zoom in you should see loads of breaks in the lines. I draw it and it’s all solid Save and open and all lines broken, I don’t get it?

so you can’t see broken lines?

if I ungroup the shapes, i just see this but nothing broken

im on version 0.91 on a PC

Have you tried saving it in SVG?

I need it to be a dxf file

Just a thought. I imported (file - import) the dxf rather than opening it (file - open). I wonder if that’s the issue ?

Ok i’ll try it whrn im in front of my laptop

That’ll be your issue. DXF doesn’t support smooth splines very well. Inkscape is breaking your curves into hundreds of tiny lines because that’s the only way it can save them.

Stick to SVG for working and export to DXF for whatever machine you’re using that needs it.
