IMPORTANT: Switching over to the new membership system

@members

The old (live) membership system is being shut down this evening, as well as the beta system, in aid of switching over to the new membership system this weekend.

There will be bugs and teething issues, but please just let @systems know and I will do my best.

There shouldn’t be major issues, the beta system has been working well, but who knows!

Hi Tom, does this effect the red access fobs in any way?

It may do later but I will be in the space when that happens

EDIT: Access restored, message @systems with access issues. @directors for issues with locking up

It appears everyone has left Makerspace for the evening. I will be redirecting things so access will be limited.

If anyone needs access please call REDACTED.

Great work! Thanks for all the time you (and others) have put in to this.

The new Membership System is live.

I’m going to have a shower and head to Makerspace to update the Access Control server.

For those curious you will need to reset your password:

https://members.southlondonmakerspace.org/password-reset

If you are unsure of your email address message @systems or systems@southlondonmakerspace.org

So… Most members need do nothing, is that correct?

It would be good if active members would regain access to their account, add an emergency contact and link with Discourse.

But there is no requirement for them to do anything, payments are unaffected.

Just done it. All worked fine.
Looking good!

I’ve just finished updating the control-node in Makerspace, so doorbot and shutterbot now work also.

134 133 members by my count

Deleted the fake member.

Members who want an avatar need to go to Gravatar.com and upload their profile picture against their email.

It’s going up!

This matches my count (assuming the three non-gocardless members are included)

They would have been active at the time so have 35 days free.

My permissions don’t match those on the previous system. Just letting you know.

E.G.

  • it doesn’t show I have laser access.
  • it allows me admin access, but this doesn’t show in my profile (perhaps this is covered by ‘director’?)

Last point: @systems is this helpful for me/us to post stuff like this here in this thread?

Both of these issues are a direct result of the old membership system being unable to encode information in a flexible way like the new system.

As such level 50 was presumed to be Director which means I ended up with director permissions, and you two didn’t get laser access.

I’ve updated all of this.

To be clear there are two admin levels

  • Full access
    Directors, or Super Admin
  • Restricted access
    Administrators

As such directors don’t need administrator access, because they get super admin from directorship.

Thanks: looking at the ‘Active members’ page: this includes inactive members such as Sarah B and Matt C. Is there a clear way to see at a glance who is active or not?

We could code up a ‘sort by last entry’ type thing?

I don’t understand what you mean?

People who are in either:

  • Members list
  • Admin > Permissions > Members

Are those who were imported from the old membership system last night, and had an active membership either because they still pay, or were granted memberships free or discounted.

Everyone who was active last night now has 35 days for their automatic payment to go through, or for the directors to re-grant them free membership, or setup a discounted membership.
