Im looking to cut my besta glass ikea top to size. but worried

i have a glass cutting tool i bought off amazon, but worried to put it to use. i don’t know wether the glass will smash into tiny pieces. Has anybody had any experience with this sort of thing?

I think it depends on the type and thickness of glass they use for their tables.

Sorry I can’t give you a definitive answer

I would be sure it will be toughened glass which means you will not be able to cut it to size.

It will shatter into lots of small pieces if you try!

This is very likely

Laminated glass (the other kind of safety glass) can be cut – if you have a way of finding out what it’s made from you’ll have an answer

hi if it is toughened glass look down one face and if you see small ripples it will be toughened this is caused when it passes through the heat treating oven, table tops have to be toughened by law and a min of 10mm thick
info from the glass and glasing fedaration(wife worked there) the prosses is cut to size polish edges and then heat treat hope this helps
kind regards
Andy
