Setting your avatar is a great way of helping people to identify who’s who when they or you are new.
It can be intimidating many folks don’t like their own photo, but it’s really helpful!
Tips to a good avatar photo:
- Good lighting is key
- Shoot from at or above your eye line
- Don’t forget to smile
- Crop tight, focus on your face, head, shoulders
Once you’ve got the perfect shot you need to upload it:

Login to Discourse

Click the round icon in the top right, with your existing/temporary avatar.

Click the cog icon

Scroll down and click the pencil icon next to the profile picture section

Click Upload Picture

Select the photo, then click save changes.
Congratulations, it’s done!
