🚦 High Traffic Alert in the Metal Area! 🚦

Hey @MetalMovers

As you’ve probably noticed, the metalshop has come a long way in the past few months — and it’s all thanks to you.

First off, massive shoutout to my fellow metaltechs and the many wonderful members who’ve helped push things forward — techs or not. Off the top of my head:
@joeatkin2 , @scday94 , @James_Nahajski , @danielbenton @ emmanuel (still don’t know your handle!), @Timbo , @mbg … and honestly, loads more. You know who you are — THANK YOU. :raising_hands:

:fire: What’s Happening?

With the arrival of the vertical mill and all the buzz around it, we’re expecting even more interest and foot traffic in the coming weeks.

This is great — but it also comes with some growing pains. More people, more tools, same-sized space. So here’s how we can all help keep things running smoothly:

:date: Book Machines — and Check for Existing Bookings!
Avoid disappointment by always checking bookings first. If you forget and it’s double-booked, someone’s walking away sad, and we don’t want that.

:soap: Be Extra Tidy
We know it’s not easy, especially mid-reorganization, but we’re working hard to make tidiness easier and more sustainable. Please do your bit — every little helps.

:sponge: Leave Machines Tidy
Clean up, put things back, and leave the area as you’d like to find it. It really does make a difference.

:hammer_and_wrench: Don’t Tweak Tools Unless You’re Sure
Please don’t mess with specialist settings or tooling unless you really know what you’re doing.
Metaltechs (myself included) are always happy to help — just ask before you make changes, not after something goes weird.

:megaphone: Report Breakages (Seriously!)
Things break. We get it. It’s fine. What’s not fine is silence.

  • Broke a tool? Tell us.
  • Snapped an insert? Tell us.
  • Accidentally unbalanced the lathe and now it sounds like a washing machine on spin cycle? Yep… tell us. (BUT PLEASE DO NOT DO THAT ) :slight_smile:

We’re not here to tell you off. If we know, we can fix it. If we don’t know, it’s just frustrating and slows everyone down.

:safety_pin: Safety First – Always!
Closed, sturdy shoes are mandatory — preferably steel-toe capped.
There’s heavy stuff, sharp stuff, and drop hazards. Don’t risk it. No Crocs. No sandals. No exceptions.

We’re building something brilliant together. With your help, we can keep the metalshop a safe, fun, and inspiring place to make cool stuff.

Let’s keep it rolling. :hammer_and_wrench::blue_heart:
