On Norwood Road, only £15. All set up and ready to go. Might be a nice bit of publicity, but would need staffing all day. Thoughts?
I’m up for it.
Sounds fun
Shall we take orders for laser engraved steins?
or ‘laser engrave your phone’ or something.
Rather you than me putting other people’s £nnn phones in the laser
haha, just make sure the screen is face down, what could possibly go wrong?
It’s worth noting that the steins that we have are a bit rubbish for engraving. They have some kind of weird coating on which doesn’t cope all that well with either the laser, or dishwashers (when burnt into)
EDIT: I mean to say, they engrave fine, but the quality of the cut is a bit naff.
We have a bunch of pint glasses and tumblers too
What’s engraveable and christmassy?
(EDIT: this isn’t a cracker joke)
I’m up for this - could be on the stall or in the space from about 2pm.
Laser cut tree decorations e.g. a bell, snowman etc? engraved Christmas baubles?
I have confirmed with HHF that we are doing this, so we need volunteers…
Who is going to help?
Hey Everyone… Im Eileen and new to Makerspace. (This is my first post so hopefully Im doing it right ) Happy to put my name down to give a hand with the Christmas Fair on the day or coming up with ideas before hand… To build on Sarah’s suggestion of decorations… laser cut christmas cards could be a simple idea… or laser cut wreaths… 3D deers… Ive attached a few pics.
Making things on the stall would be the trick. Not sure about power or how rain-proof a stall might be, but I’d bet there’s stuff that could be done. A laptop could probably drive a vinyl cutter and make nice Christmas cards on-demand, all run from battery of one kind or another?
All that said, I’ve got a gig that evening, so not sure if I can be there in the daytime.
Welcome, and thanks for posting those references. Definitely spurred the thought that we couldn’t drag the laser cutter down, but vinyl cutter is another thing.
Here’s Christmas cards chez moi last year
I think making on the stall is a great idea.
problem with manufacturing stuff beforehand is the impossibility of knowing what will sell.
Once upon a time we planned selling stuff on the stall and sending customers round to the space to collect?
This means we direct a bunch of people round to us.
Could be a load of Christmas present commissions in it? Conversely: we might sell nothing.
If we were selling on the stand and then sending them to the space to see it be made, a nice trick would be to design it on the stand. Changing a text-field to their name, for instance.
If sticking to the stand, cards could be on the spot and are low-risk.
Also chez moi last year for the Christmas table was a table runner / trivet - laser cut a tree branch / leaf design. We could easily do that, though it would require a stock of ply.
Oh that’s so pretty! I want one!
Bumpitty bump.
This is on Saturday.
So…who will take the reins on this? Xmassy pun intended…
An outline of what/who might be needed would get the (snow)ball rolling.
This is how we’ve pitched it:
“Customised christmas trinkets of all kinds, laser cut and 3D printed while you wait! Prices tba, but all low”
This is what we have booked:
“NORWOOD ROAD – pitch, gazebo, weights and table”
This is what we’ve agreed:
"By sending us this booking form you are confirming that you will be (on 5th December 2015) fully compliant with the regulatory requirements of your
trade or business and will also be adequately insured."
Fair is from 11am to 4pm, so allow setup and tidy-up time.
