Put this together with the help of many others during the maker festival. Used the big CNC to draw the outline using the marker attachment. Someone had the idea that it could be used to draw out larger fabric patterns as well. Using the tufting gun was fun. The trick we found was to use more yarn (up to 4 strands worked best) or else they wouldn’t hold in the fabric (thanks Sabrina!). Finished off the back with PVA, next time I’d use something else like carpet glue; the pva got sucked through to the other side in a couple places, bringing sharpie marks through. The frame was made from a few pine scraps. I still need to get a piece of glass to slot in the front.

Whoah! This is great!!! Didn’t know we could do that at makerspace! How to learn tufting? Is there anyone who’d be able to teach us?
It definitely looked fun, would love to give it a go. It looks fantastic!!!
It was great fun seeing this develop and I’m really pleased Sabrina got involved too and experienced the process! Thanks Max and all in the woodshop for all your hard work during the festival, your energy was awesome and I loved this new blending of CnC and Textile!
