Help with the laser cutter

Hey all,

I am looking to cut some parts for a set of wall display units. I have the files sorted in inkscape (at lease I think they will work) but would really appreciate someone’s help guiding me use the machine. I was inducted a few months back but haven’t used the machine since, so want to make sure I don’t cause any issues with it.

Very happy to return the favour in the future.

Cheers,
Chris

I can help on Monday. What material are you cutting?

if I cant fix my own laser today, we might be coming in this coming week, my laser has broken down again :frowning: and we need to do a bit of cutting for Sabrinas CMP final year project.

The laser at the space is really not hard, just take it one step at a time, do some small test cuts say of a circle/square and dail in your settings on the matterial you planning to cut. Once that works fine then do your main cutting. This will take time but practice makes perfect

Hey Lia, thanks. Are you free in the evening after 18:00? I’ve got work during the day.

Assuming there is stock at the space, my plan is to cut the body out of wood sheets on offer there (I think it was plywood but do correct me if wrong). Then the screen and adjustable shelf out of acrylic (again if there is some available at the space). I figured buying the stuff there would ensure it’s ok for the laser cutter it reduces the variables I can make mistakes with.

6pm

Note that there is limited laser material stock at the moment:
3mm ply 6
5mm ply 1
3mm clear acrylic 9
Thick clear acrylic 7
