Help with metalwork project

Hi everyone!

I’ve recently become a member however have not had any inductions yet. Would anyone be kind enough to do a small task for me?

I bought this curtain holder however it doesn’t fit in the space needed. All I need is to cut the base to 5cm max. in width and have two screw holes placed on the top and bottom of the piece.
It would be so helpful if someone could do this for me so I can install it, as well as letting me see how things work in the metal room prior to my induction.

I’m predominately free midweek if anyone is able to help.

Hi,

so you need to reduce the diameter of the base to 5cm?

What is the original size?

It is currently 10cm. If it is possible to keep it circlular then excellent but not married the the idea so happy to cut straight down the piece for ease.

That is a lot of reduction

due to the smaller size, the strenght of supporting the curtain will also be a lot less.

I am unsure if that is going to work.

Yes, thats why I thought changing the width only would be beneficial as it leaves more surface area therefore more support. So cutting the edges only, making a rectangular shape would be the best option. Would you be open to helping?

If it doesn’t work when I install it then I can just buy another base

I would be happy to help, but I am mostly available on Friday nights and Saturdays.

If I manage to come in midweek, I will message you.

I am in tomorrow night, but I’m there for the members meeting, so I’m not sure we are going to have time

No worries! I can’t do Friday or Saturday this week and away all next week for work but happy to come in 13th/14th if that works for you?
