Help with conductive yarn

I’d like to use conductive yarn to knit a pressure sensor, which I can then use as an input device with an Arduino or similar board. I have some experience with Arduino, but I’ve never worked with e-textiles, and my understanding of electronics is fairly basic.

Has anyone here worked with e-textiles, or can anyone point me to a good resource to get started?

Thanks!

That sounds like a really cool project, I’ve not heard of it before.

I did a quick online search and found this which seems useful, if you haven’t seen it before.

[Edit] it’s the part of the same site that you linked, so I assume that you’ve seen this.

I haven’t done this, but a friend sewed some of this yarn into the finger tips of her gloves and it works brilliantly. I can ask her any questions you have if that helps?

Hey Jem, thanks for this! Yes, I had a brief look at the projects on Kobakant, but I hadn’t seen this one in particular.

That would be helpful! I think my main question is around actually using the fabric as a resistor - as in, once it’s been knitted, how would I connect it up to a multimeter and measure the change in resistance? It might be very simple, but that’s where I’m struggling.

Maybe the e-textile lounge Youtube channel?
Also check for fabric/ knit stretch sensor

This is perfect, thanks!

Update - I found a video of someone doing almost exactly what I have in mind:
