I’m currently working on a slip casting project, the first step of which involves 3d printing resin moulds. I have two things I’d like to use the resin printer for - first, to print a resin version of the final item, then, assuming we like the size and form of that once it’s printed, the moulds themselves (which will then be used to make silicone moulds, then plaster moulds, then slip into those… it’s a project with lots of steps!)
I have modelled the item (a christmas tree ornament), and am ready to try to 3d print it, but unfortunately I haven’t been inducted on the resin printers yet. Would anyone who has been inducted and is confident with the machine be willing/available to help me over the coming days? With the exception of tomorrow (Friday) evening I can be very flexible on times!
Any help would be really appreciated, it’d be awesome to be able to do this in the space instead of farming it out to a printing company
@Lia is the resin expert and I’ve recently been inducted by Lia so maybe both of us could help? I’ve managed to successfully do a print by myself but I’m finding the cleanup process particularly challenging (lots of isopropyl alcohol fumes).
I’m also interested in making moulds for jewellery so maybe we can have a chat . I’m in most evenings.
Hey sam, great to hear from you! Will you be in this evening? I may pop down if so, but it takes me a while to get there so wouldn’t be around until 6:30/7pm. I’d be very up for chatting about all things moulds!
