[help needed] repairing a pair of jeans

took a spill on my bike recently and my jeans have turned into bell-bottoms:

is this repairable & if so, any tips on what i might have to do?

cheers

You could embroider something nice on it

i was thinking i might just trim my jeans to about shin-length for good!

is there an induction/onboarding to getting started on the sewing machine? im afraid i dont know where to begin with something like this.

Great idea, summer is round the corner

No induction needed.

@textilestechs: I think the machine should be able to handle the fabric OK?

yeah just use a bigger needle if needs

Agreed - most home machines can handle jeans. Just need a bigger needle - either a specific denim one or a 90/14 (colour coded purple in the last big set I bought for the space) which we should have plenty of in the needles drawer.

@nerdypepper - I run periodic sessions where I’ll go through the basics of the sewing machines for anyone who comes and you can bring a project like this. How about next Wednesday evening?

@TracyD I’d also be interested in a basic run through of sewing machines if you do one next weds eve! Thank you

No problem @AlistairR . I’ll be there from around 6:30 until 9 (leaving at 9) so drop in and I’ll go through the basic machines - sewing machine, overlocker.
