Gadget advice needed!

Hi guys, I was wondering anyone knew if there’s a way to connect your pc to your TV via wireless?

Why do you want to? For Netflix, iPlayer etc I’d recommend a Chromecast, which doesn’t really connect your pc but gets it up on screen. You can cast anything from the pc to the Chromecast, but sometimes video runs a bit slow.

Actually I think it might just be Chrome windows you can cast from a pc. You can cast anything from an android phone, though.

Yeah so I looked at various streaming box but non of them allow you to have all the streaming apps, theres always have one that’s not included in any streaming box.

So I was wondering if there was devices that allow you to turn your tv into a pc extension like a second display but wirelessly

So what’s Chrome window? Is like a internet browser?

There are various cheap solutions that use the miracast standard to push your PC screen & audio over the air, but your computer has to do the encoding and the picture quality can be poor

If your wallet is overflowing, then you can get a genuine HDMI wifi repeater, but you’re talking £200 for a low-end one.

Chromecast let’s you choose whether to cast just the Chrome browser window, any other specific application, or everything on your screen. I’ve used it to deliver software training in a pinch. But I found there was a second or two lag, and sometimes image quality isn’t perfect. Maybe see if you can borrow one to test with your equipment? (I don’t have one, I’m afraid)

Exactly.

Hi,
Apple TV,
Amazon Fire TV
Amazon Fire TV Stick,
Chrome Cast,
AIRTAME

All mirror your PC screen to the TV - either with Apple AirPlay or use MiraCast.

Or a wireless TV extender, although these can be sensitive to microwaves operating for example.
I used to use a VGA version but there are now HD versions.
Best regards
David

Cool, which one can you cast sky go (not now tv) from your laptop to your tv?

thanks again guys

My chrome cast is connected to the to in the space of you want to try it there’

Sky Go running on an iPad does not display video on FireTV

I recommend Chromecast over the others as it loads the video on the device rather than streaming it via another one, tends to get a better result.

I’m pretty sure airplay does this too if it thinks it can get away with it / the developer has done the right voodoo

Yes, sometimes, but also if the AirPlay source crashes it does, where as Chromecast will keep playing, and you can often just resume.

I switched from AppleTV / AirPlay to Chromecast because of numerous issues and have not looked back, AirPlay now only gets used to play music through the TV to the speakers.

Thanks guys for your advice
