Fusion 360

Hey guys does anyone have a link to download a free version of fusion 360 ??

Thank you!

360 is free for hobbyists from Autodesk

I see the free trial on autodesk but I can’t find the free version

Get the trial version. Later, once that’s installed, you can opt to have the hobbyist (non-full) version with free license.

I got the free version.
It took 24 hours for my application to be accepted, then it all worked fine. I found a cheap course on Udemy. It explains the interface, how to use it and has exercises. Also comes with email support.
I think there is a fusion 360 course specifically for woodworking also on Udemy.

Thanks Dan!

Cheers Giles!

For the interest of others - I’m very pleased with how well I’ve gotten on having Fusion installed on a gaming PC that I connect to remotely using Parsec: https://parsec.app/ (free)

My laptop would definitely choke on the mad models I’ve been making, but this approach means a big computer somewhere in Wales does all the heavy lifting instead.

That said, @PR1OR has no issues apparently running it on his laptop so may be the computational load of Fusion isn’t as bad as I feared!

Fwiw onshape is also a good option for hardware constrained cadding. I’ve been finding it much nicer to use than fusion having come from Autodesk inventor, I found fusion to be a frustrating dumbed down version of inventor though so YMMV

I literally started using this today as i want to use CAD with Linux. Ive been surprised at how good it is. Not a massive fan of the layout but i can deal with that and im sure its something i will get used to. In ref to Fusion ive only ever had issues when ive been trying to convert a complex mesh into a solid body. But Meshmixer can do this really easy and if you are proficient with Blender that is the best thing for a mesh i think
