We have a lot of really really crappy bits of reclaimed fast grown pine that are rotten, split, full of nails and not much good for anything.
If they are giving away ply panels those could be useful for building all the storage we need.
If we can have an idea of what they have to donate perhaps we could go through all the scraps and chuck the unuseable stuff in the hippo bag, and take a few panels of good ply off them. This won’t take much space, we have a storage place planned for it in messy and it would be a lot more useful to us than the rubbish we have collected at present
I think I might phone them tomorrow or pop down there on my way home to see what they have.
Initially I was thinking for myself, but if there is some support I agree. Some good timber would be good for the space.
Plus now the snug is “sorted” (as in tidied not finished) and the first room decided to make itself the wood stoor, we have a much better idea of what we have. We could use it as a limiter. Eg nothing gets put in there if there’s no space. It about 95% full at the moment. But if you can swap out / upgrade on a like for like basis this could work.
Sounds great. Ply and any hardwoods would be great. Tell me when you think you’d be going.
How about we make an area for wood we have that we are going to throw out, leave it for a few days just in case and then we chuck it in the hippo bag. I can go through it at some point to sort the good from the bad. Then we could go and collect the new stuff
I am also on the wood hunt (though it’s more a thinking about a wood hunt) for making a shelf for my desk so my screens can be at the right height (have the shelf, just need some wood for raising the shelf, so if you were to discard any 2x4 or 1x2 type stuff, I would be interested in helping to “dispose” of it.
