Foureyes Freebie Coffee Table Plan - Brown Oak/Ash

Hola, here is my version of the popular Youtube Channel FourEyes’s freebie plan for a coffee table.

It’s got a split live edge top to double up as a bench rather than the solid one they’ve built, and obviously, I’ve used liveedge wood rather than boards making it a bit more expensive. Huge shout out to @nkmdk007 who drove me down to Surrey Timbers and patiently waited while I choose materials! And who lent me his sander while we’re waiting on a new hook pad.

I find designing furniture very stressful and annoying, it’s hard to create something that i find aesthetic, functional but also has the correct joinery so I decided to follow some plans instead. These were free, and great. I even found myself enjoying working in Inches as they are American.

Had to swap the tablesaw out for the tracksaw quite a lot due to the riving knife issue, and I used the Domino as a joining method.

Lots of debate about live edge inside or outside and i settled on inside. I was really unhappy with the grain mismatch on the top as is came from two slabs, but after the Rubio monocoat finish it matches really well.

I can thoroughly recommend these plans as well, they come with videos with good guides, although the delivery is very dry. The other plans start at £80 for a download, which is too steep for me, so glad to have found this freebie and modified it to make it mines  https://foureyes.podia.com/

Favourite accidental detail is the slight reveal of the apron on one side by the live edge
