Experienced Volunteers for router/tableinductions

we are looking for volunteers for the initial router induction.

please only put your name down if you have had working experience with routers, and /or ideally own a router yourself.

this is so we can get a formal induction put in place for those members wishing to use the routers.

also please think about a quick project that can be made during the induction which uses the full capabilities of these machines.
for example.
bearing guided template cutting, bush guided cutting, bearing guided edge cutting, trimming, rebating, plunge routing.

i was thinking something like a cheese board, @CriticalTolerance suggested a desk tidy. @joeatkin2 suggested a kitchen carcass/cabinet…

ideally keeping the costs to under £20 ( this will be the price of the inductions)

for the first experienced volunteers there will be no charge.

please reply below in this format

name;
experience with routers;-
own a router yes/no
project suggestion;-

Hi Lewiss et al,

Seeing as I am back and it has not happened yet, I throw my hard hat into the ring:

Experience with Routers: yes
Own a router: no (that’s why I joined the space! :-] )
Project Suggestion: well, I used routers to route pickup-cavities in my bass guitar. Might be a tad specialised for an induction. Will ponder…
best day/time: No such thing but the coming two or three weekends have a high chance of free time, as do Friday afternoons or Wednesday evenings. Other days can be possible at very short notice, always worth asking!
Happy to write notes: yes - as a trainer I am always happy to practice my instructions writing on people!

Any update on getting the router inductions off the ground? I’m keen to get taught how to use one!

I have lots of router experience, also own a router (Makita Trimmr - better than plunge (discuss  )), and built a router table for it, dead useful for decorative trimming and cutting grooves for shelves in boxes etc. I reckon it’s much easier to use than the current one in the space, easy to set up and change bits, a hell of a lot smaller also.

Happy to take it to the space and leave it there once I’ve got round to applying for shutter access but currently use it most days for projects… I can demonstrate and ‘induct’ on it’s safe usage and limitations, as well as care for bits and how to sharpen them.

Let’s set a date for this at the meeting on Tuesday. We will need Mark, 4 experienced users to be inducted, and I will take notes and write it up afterwards.
