Engraving cylindrical objects

@Lasertechs I seem to remember hearing we has some apperatus that allows us to engrave cylindrical objects, I seem to remember a pint glass being engraved, I’m currently attempting to turn a wooden goblet and would like to engrave it, what can we do

Rotary attachment is in box under PC, then search in tools page on discourse for tutorial. It’s pretty damn simple if you can read.

Ok, I’ll work on my reading skills then give it a go.

Thanks @petra

There’s videos on the Tool page about it and i’ll be taking out the rotery tool in Jan for a play

We have both types of rotary tools for the laser. I’ve found that the rubber-edged rollers are very finicky as far as speeds are concerned; things slip a little so the registration is off. On a whim I made a little jig that works with the rotary tool with the “claw”. The foam grips the inside of the item, and the tempered hardboard disk (cut on the laser cutter, of course, centers the object. The bolt in the middle is just a cap screw that’s long enough to go through the disk and foam.

There is also a Chuck for the rotary tool to hold smaller diameter tubes, it was on the shelf above the laser.
