Hi! I was wondering if I could get some help/general advice with an embroidery project? Hopefully this is the correct place to post this. I’m trying to get this cartoon design onto a t-shirt and then modify it a little for my friend’s birthday. The design itself is from an actual embroidered shirt so I know it’s possible - I want to maybe add a few details to personalise it further and also learn more about the machine.
I’ve checked out the pages that lists the 2 different Brother embroidery machines in the tools, then did the design on Inkscape with Ink/stitch but now not sure where to go from there.
I’ve attached a pic, the design is 4 colours, black, white, grey and yellow and I have used the simulation tool to see an animation of the stitching, but I’m not sure if it’s OK in terms of the stitching direction, stitch types, overlapping stitches etc. and in the simulation it’s also telling me to go back-and-forth between the colours to stitch areas from outside and moving in.
Would be amazing to get some guidance on where to go from here since I have 0 experience with textiles, just graphics.
heya, we are working on an induction still so look out for that. There’s actually a lot that can go wrong just jumping straight into it.
In the meantime with this,
it’s not possible to know without testing the file a bit on a similar fabric to the tshirt first. From what i see this might take upto an hour. Though from set up, testing and final could be a couple hours to get it right.
If it is really urgent I’d be happy to offer an hour next week to run you through the basic process just to make sure the machine isn’t getting damaged in the process let me know !
Oh amazing tysm!
It’s absolutely no rush at all, I’ve left plenty of time (because my back-up plan was to hand embroider haha) so maybe I’ll try and start with an easier project first.
Happy to wait for the induction if it’s already the works anyway? My friend’s birthday is in late March.
The embroidery machine is something I’d like to learn to use anyway, so I might give you a dm to see when you’ll be around and have some time to show me some basics if that’s ok? Probably start with something much simpler
