Electronics Night - 3rd Nov 16

Hi Guys,

I’ll be down later with my box of bits, ESP’s, Arduinos etc

Got a couple of requests for tonight already but let me know if anyone want help with anything else…
List so far :-

  • Bring Blue PCB Printing film to look at / play with
  • bring test string of addressable LEDs to play with
  • 3D printer display install
  • Set time on the big Clock

I’ll be down, haven’t made it for a while, I ordered another serial adapter and some ams1117’s, along with some breakout boards.

Hey I’m a new member - not sure if this is the kind of thing that’s suitable for electronics night but I got a mig welder that has packed in - maybe someone can make a diagnosis?

Hi I’m new too, what time does the electronics night usually kick off?

About 7.30 usually

Thanks Dermot, I’ll see you down there if you’re attending tonight.

Dermot, apologies!

No problem. And you can always edit your messages later!

cool thanks for the tip

Can’t promise as there are a few things going on tonight but there may be someone around this evening who could look at the MIG unit…
That said, I wouldn’t make a special trip just for that as it not guaranteed - your call really…

Hopefully I can make it down, still working!

The action as it happened - @rosszeibari addressing the Addressable LED strip and @Courty about to sneeze while working on 3D printer display install.

What a great night. Lots going on, stuff fixed, tinkering with tech and some good banter to boot. If I can find the video of the addressable LED’s running flat out I’ll post it. They look very cool when they are swapping full colour palettes (will show you that next time  )

Oh and I’m not sure that was a sneeze… I think I was probably saying naughty words at all the little screws

@Courty thanks for bringing your electronics box down last night. Playing around with the addressable LEDs / Arduino was a great way for me to get back into programming after many many years away. Good memories of my uni times came to me last night too, so thanks.

@dsikar thanks for your enthusiasm and skill with the Arduino, you made a fun time for us all last night and getting leds to turn red and move side to side like NIGHT RIDER has to been one boyhood dream fulfilled haha

I’ll certainly be down next Thursday if you guys are planning to come.

What a laugh and then there was our new Mancunian import @rich_op who took to the Canopy like <metaphor goes here>. I reckon he will soon be adding some VR into the proceedings.
@rosszeibari the plan is to be there next Thursday to restart the partay!

Someone mention a party?! I’m in :sunglasses:

Courty

its in the diary!

Guys do we have a PIR sensor down the space or perhaps in @Courty 's box of tricks?
I wouldnt mind playing around with setting off an LED strip with the sensor. I saw a project on instructables which triggers but only when its dark.

Would also be interesting to see and understand other electronics projects that other members may be running.

@rosszeibari - of course I’ve got some  big one or small one ? What distance are you looking to detect over ?

Courty

hey great, just a few meters, 3 max. just for a bed room and bathroom.
