Is there an electronics night tonight?

need a bit of help diagnosing why my radio project melted a couple of AA batteries.

think it was some kind of short…

I was just doing a post for tonight !

The Space is mainly booked for the ‘Time to Talk’ event tonight and that does have priority.

That said, I believe having someone on the benches working on a small project would be fine - I was looking to do Badges etc anyway. Happy for the normal Electronics crew to help out and be about too, it just may be a bit busy.

aha! oh yeah.
nah i think i’ll leave it for tonight then.

i’ve put the melted batteries in a jam jar.
any tips on disposal? can i just out in my bin?

and then i guess

  • clean the connectors with wire wool
  • rewire
  • try again

i’m trying to set up this radio so it has a switch to choose power and audio out of either “the radio as is” and “my blue tooth set up”. think some how it shorted and just fed power into the batteries until they popped.

check if you have any diode with reverse polarity…I never saw AA battery melted…

i don’t know what that means :joy: (newbie)

it was working perfectly before and happened when i attached the switch.

ill send a pic tonight if that helps…
