Hi Guys, I’m looking to be down tomorrow for electronics evening, will bring the normal bits and bobs, Arduinos, ESP8266, STM32’s etc
Has anyone got any special requests or is it just a tinker night ?

Could you show me the ropes on the ESP8266?
ESP8266 +1 please I can’t seem to get mine to boot.
Sure, will bring a programmer as well…

Thanks @Courty for the ESP8266 impromtu workshop.
@KylieJudd is this the module you mentioned:
I like those too. Takes a 5v input from a phone charger, built in USB, dirt cheap. I buy them by the dozen via AliExpress.
Is it possible to remove the ESP-12 from the NodeMCU and put an ESP-07 in its place?
I used these before I made my own, they have a space for an onboard regular if required and the two pull up resisters onboard
Courty
@andrew_d it is possible using the hot air gun and liquid flux… it’s high risk and the old esp-12 won’t make + you have to be very careful of components on the bottom of the board… would it not be better to buy a USB breakout and solder an esp-07 to it ?
Courty
That’s what I am doing at the moment. However, it is not as neat as the NodeMCU, and programming is not as simple as plugging in the USB.
Cool, Happy to have a go at swapping it Thursday if you want…
Courty
I can’t make Thursday evening sessions for a while, due to a degree I am doing by evening study. I also do not have any ESP-07s spare at the moment.
Thanks for the tip. Up and running in no time.
NodeMCU, Arduino Serial Monitor and Apache2 web server access log.
Yeay, glad to see you nailed it ! Welcome to the world of IOT !!
Courty
Thank you, sir.
BTW How did you get on with the robot?
