Don't forget to turn the iron off if you have been using it

I’ve just gone into the textiles area and I found the cyan iron was on! This is a danger and also waste of electricity!

Please unplug it and put it away even if you think someone might be using it after you and if someone is turning off the lights please check the plugs just to make sure.

Usually the best way to avoid these situations is to make them impossible to happen. There are plugs that auto switch off after 30 minutes designed specifically for this purpose. Do you think it’d be a good idea to get one for the iron?

Great idea, and for the soldering irons

Anyone ordering these?

Sorry to be a grump - but sadly it’s very easy for members to forget to use (or deliberately don’t use) those plugs.

We are better off looking at our irons - any maybe replacing them with ones with auto shut off, it’s a pretty standard feature on modern irons - for example this iron is £25 https://amzn.eu/d/6WkBzkV (and i’m sure we can find ones that more more heavy duty/suitable for the space)

That makes sense definitely, and we can clean up and send away the current irons

Honestly one thing I’d love for the space is also a very tiny iron for seams

See if you can find some suitable (with auto shut off) and we can scheme together on an iron refresh
