I’m on holiday and someone drop this one me asking me if I want to give it a look
I know things about this :
- it’s broken
- It’s Russian
- It’s built with military standard material , everything is marked with custom codes and is clearly designed to work on the field , far away form home and in extreme conditions
- I can’t find any documentation online
- it uses reel to reel 1/4 inches magnetic tape (2 have tape on them )
- It’s been sold as ex KGB equipment.
Provided that I am 1600 km from home , without multi-meter / soldering iron or sonic screwdriver I can’t really fix the tape reader but the owner is curious about the content of the two tapes so, ideally , I could bring the tapes home (maybe some cyanide pills as well? 
) and extract the content form it , but I don’t have a reel to reel recorder but buying one for one use sounds out of discussion so, if someone can lend me one for a night would be great!
