Do we want to exhibit at Lambeth Country Show?

Brockwell Park, Saturday 16 & Sunday 17 July 2016, 12:00 - 20:00

Could be a good outreach/marketing exercise. And the show itself is a great day out regardless, if you haven’t been before.

Applications close 14th April

Here are the prices and pitch sizes/locations:

Plus £125 for a 3kW power outlet, or £150 for 6kW.

Depends on whether it’s going to rain or not, right?

I think this is definitely something we should aspire to. To actually do will depend on others.

I think that might be fun. We’d need a lot of people to make it work though.

Or we could do what we ended up doing for the Christmas fair - run an open day at the space on those two days and maybe hand out flyers near the park gates.

It’s a great event & Herne Hill will be really busy all weekend.

Agreed, felt this worked quite well before, but getting the footfall is crucial. There’s only a limited number of things we could do with a stall, but we can show off all of our toys in the space (which will also be totally showroom ready by then!)

I wonder how much they would want for an ad in the programme?

I’ll find out

That’s a good idea.

I would be careful about opening for the Country Show because there will be over 150,000 people coming and getting drunk with Canopy next door, it is liable to be a large crowd of people possible drunk and it might be hard to manage tours, theft and safety to be honest.

It might be better to have a stall?

Hmm, an interesting conundrum. Usually we’d take ‘canopy have people passing’ as a good thing, but drunken hoardes in the space is not good either.

Hm good point. I usually go home before it gets dark so miss the rowdy / drunken stage of the event!

It always closes well before sunset - 8pm

I would recommend the Show. I’ve run a marquee there before - fantastic way to meet people. If I wasn’t going to be on holiday I’d help on the day. Lots of fun. We could ask people to sign up for a show round on another day (to avoid the concerns re drunks and overcrowding!). Would probably really increase membership. A marquee maybe hard to borrow and too much organisation but is an opportunity to do a clean activity with people. But a stall with a decent photoboard would involve less work and still be worth doing.

Bumping this as deadline is Friday 15th April.

Show is 16 & 17th July noon till 8pm.

This would need members who are willing to plan and (wo)man the stall.

@events and @marketing will give support.

I said that!

BTW host(ess) would be more inclusive perhaps?

I was trying to remove gender from it but this is semantics.

I was just playing.

‘Manning the stall’, doesn’t really mean that a man is expected to do it.

If it was offensive, then I probably need to have it explained to me.

So was I

Okay ‘guys’ let’s get back on topic!

Shall we do a stall at the Country Show?

Would probably be a blast for those that do it, and really spread the word about the Makerspace.

However we will only take it on if there is a big enough team to run it.

I’d suggest we need a minimum team of three people for each day, with at least 2 on the stall at any time.

Personally I won’t be able to help out too much on this on the day.

We really should, but like Dermot I have approaching zero availability. A bit like Arduino day, I should be able to chip in here and there, but can’t be counted on to be there during the day.
