@electrotechs do we have a battery spot welder in electronics? i need to replkace the battery pack in a security camera
I don’t believe electronics has one, but I suspect Stefano is referring to me having done battery spot welding in the past. I just used a contactor, car battery, pointed copper rods, Arduino, and a bit of code to make consistent double pulses. It was just made up of stuff I already had laying around. I spot welded a battery pack made up of 84 x 18650 cells and it worked great, survived the pull tests. I’ve since used the parts for other stuff but yeah you can totally DIY it.
I have one you can borrow, if needed.
It looks like you’ve found one.
We don’t allow lithium battery packs to be built or dismantled inside the space, the risks are too great. I would never build one inside anyway.
Best of luck with the project
Let me know if you need any help.
