Delivery of Ply Saturday 11th March 2017

Fulham Timber Merchants will be delivering 25 sheets of ply to the space some time on Saturday morning…due to them having a vehicle off the road it’s on a ‘we’ll phone you an hour before delivery’ basis.

I’ll make sure I’m down, but would be good to have another pair of hands for safe handling of the boards.

@rosszeibari @joeatkin2 your orders are included in this.

Apologies if anyone else wanted some ply – though it may be possible to add to the order if you’re quick. We’re getting a very good price on birch ply at the moment: £47+ VAT for 18mm 8x4 sheets (yes, for Birchply that’s a good price)

it might be handy if there is still time to get a small selection of sawn timber as we have the planer thicknesser up and running. @joeatkin2 mentioned this.

12x 4’'x3 ‘’ x 3m sawn (not tanelised)

  1. to get some experience with the planer thicknesser.
  2. to build a fireproof enclosure in the snug for the wood extract bag. (to stop ultrafine particles being pumped back into the workshop)

If you punch extraction through to the snug, what are the implications for noise isolation?

it will be behind a 4 skin plasterboard fireproof enclosure … it will be quiet

It was workshop noise travelling through the hole in our 1.5kN daft-thickness block wall I was thinking about. But maybe not a problem?

Brixton branch down do any sawn carcassing, only PAR. I’ll pick up some on my travels

if we put rockwool in the cavity it will be quiet, also need to plumb in a sprinkler and smoke detector in there

We need the ply to be moved/cleared from the Clean room before tomorrow’s Open Evening.

and (brief sort of, but not completely off topic moaning hat on) a general tidy of the clean space, which is beginning to look quite un-clean…

Most of this ply is still sitting in the clean room over a week later.

It probably demonstrates our lack of storage space.

If we bring in 8 x 4 sheets in future for members we need to agree to get them moved in a reasonable timeframe.

Sorry I have been in Wales a lot this week every time I get back to use it I have to head up the m4 I am hoping to get a day clear to use it tomorrow

Just to let you know that I shifted my 2 sheets the within 2 days. :slight_smile:
