Cutting new blinds down to size

Hi all,

Bit of a weird question. My bathroom has some blinds which recently broke, and so we got some new ones. But we accidentally bought them at 104cm wide, rather than the actual 100cm wide.

It looks like they likely have a few generic sizes that they cut down to your specific length, and it looks like there’s still some space that I could cut off before hitting the machinery of the blinds (as I’ll only need to cut 2cm off each side).

I just wondered if someone could advise me on what the best tool for the job would be? It looks/feels to be some kind of plastic. Could I get away with a hand saw or do you think I would need to use power tools?

P.S. I’m (relatively) new to the area and have always meant to come check out the makerspace, so this is my excuse!

I had to do this on a few blinds recently

Best thing i found was a fine toothed saw. I have a small Japanese hand saw but a fine coping saw or junior hacksaw will do.

Knock the slats square and Make a couple tight wraps of tape around the end first just short of where the cut will be. That will keep it under control when you cut.

Don’t forget to take the same amount off both ends if possible. As you want to keep the lines of the ladders even a cross the window.
