Good morning all,

In the next session we will revisit screen printing I felt pretty bad about the last session and really isn’t my usual standard so wanted to run this session again.

In this session you will use a template to create a basic envelope cushion. Cushion’s provided.

Workshop structure:

12pm: Refreshments and tour of South London Makerspace (for non-members). Highlight the new screen printing facilities.

12:30pm: Screen printing basics for home printing demo.

13:00pm: Cut Cushion Cover, Print and Sew your cushion cover.

15:00pm End

There is a limited space of 10 people, so if you would like to attend
please add your name to the comments section. I currently have 5
confirmed. Sorry I didn’t get round to understanding the wiki thing, so please add a comment with your name to confirm attendance.

Hi,

  • it is a Wiki!

  • it could do with a date!

  • my impression was that the last one was very well enjoyed? After the rain, the shutter not opening, the AV faffing at the beginning (but there’s no place and no one immune to AV delays)

  • thank you for running these. They are an enriching force for the Space.

I’m interested, but when is it?

Oops will update. When I hit the wiki tab nothing happens? And thank you for the supportive words.

I think you can now edit the page if you were still interested?

I see you have gone up to 11!

Indeed, however I’m increasingly conscious that it is largely the wider community that has shown interest, not the space members which makes me wonder if me running these workshops are a good fit for the spaces.

That said I have had some interest from from a blogger who would like to do a feature. I thought it could be great marketing for the space. Would there be any objections if I invite her along to the Sunday workshop? If there is I can invite to workshop at different venue.

Please see a link to a couple of her write-ups.

I think for the moment they’re great!

Yes, ideally we should be providing events for members: but you’re bringing a good amount of potentially new members in, many who are fairly local yet don’t know about us. Also your workshops are ahead of the curve for female participation, I believe? Which is a very good thing.

And, a blogger? Absolutely!

Ok cool I’ll invite her along.

Some highlights from today’s session. So we only had three. All 3 women one of which of ethnic minority, all interested in further experimentation with the screen printing section in particular screen exposure and how to use laser cutter to create acrylic screens.

You only had three people turn up after 12 signed up?That must be really annoying.

I wonder if you should ask for a nominal fee when they book.

Looks like a great workshop and good results!

missed a couple:

Hmm I’m not sure. It’s the first time it’s been as low as that when so many booked. I also had people book last night that didn’t turn up. I think it’s quite simply a weather thing.

There is that option, on meet up so I might look at a way to implement it without putting people off.

Having organised a few conferences, you might try doing a £5-10 fee which is refunded if you attend.

Hi Chanelle, sorry, I thought I was signing up for the one on the 11th Dec on this thread. I think there was no date when I added my name but I didn’t check back to make sure I hadn’t got my wires crossed. Lisa and I would like to come on the 11th if you still have space on that one? Shall I sign up on meetup?

No worrries.

Sorry I have two meet up groups, one is throwing out the wrong dates on meet up. I think that is where you have the 11th December from? It should run every 4 weeks making it the 18th December. Sorry to confuse you. I think I posted in a October thread December will be knitting needle making. You can sign to the link here: https://www.meetup.com/London-Makers/

I can do another screen printing session in January. I think there is a fair bit of interest for exposing screens with complex illustration design.
