Here’s a quick update on my latest project – a coopered oak coffee table. This was my first time trying coopering, but by carefully setting up the table saw for precise angle cuts, the process went pretty smoothly.
One key takeaway: always use cauls when gluing up wide panels to prevent cupping. It’s something I knew but easily overlooked in the chaos of a glue-up.
Huge thanks to @giles for all the help along the way – his knowledge was invaluable.
I’ll be posting better photos on Instagram soon, so check them out if you’re interested @__andrewbryce
The coopered parts were glued up with Cascamite which has a very long, luxurious open time and is gap filling. The weather was very hot and pva was going off in minutes.
Cascamite also, doesn’t creep, another advantage over pva for this particular application.
Turned out lovely.
Well done.
